 The Cooperative Experience

As the name suggests, Travel Co-Op is a cooperative, Texas born and bred, with an eye on bringing together Texas Hill Country businesses and travelers.  To do this, the Co-Op needs member businesses and organizations of all sizes who are not averse to a little hard work, have a keen interest in the Hill Country's prosperity, and who are willing to join hands and cooperate with other members to attract, accommodate, entertain, educate, and extend a huge helping of hospitality to Hill Country tourists.  It's a big job, but not impossible.  The good news is that your business or organization can help.  Join the Co-Op.  It's easy, the cost of doing so is low, and the benefits are substantial.

 The Cooperative Concept

A cooperative is a group of people who join together for their mutual economic benefit and participate in an economic activity as members of a non-profit business.   The business in turn is owned and controlled by its members through a board of directors, again for their mutual benefit, and without a pure profit motive.  Naturally, money is needed to successfully operate a cooperative, but any surplus resulting from its' activities belongs to the members and may be used for future capital needs or allocated among members as patronage dividends.     The Travel Co-Op's purpose is to serve members' economic needs in the promotion, development, and support of tourism in the Texas Hill County for the members' mutual benefit.    "Mutual benefit" means not only the perks enjoyed by members, but also how any operating surplus may be distributed among members at the end of a fiscal year.   So, join forces with your business neighbors as a Co-Op member and make your contribution to a group adventure promoting the Texas Hill Country as a tourist destination.

 Texas Hill Country

Travel Co-Op's primary service area is 22-Central Texas counties (in red on map inset) collectively called the Texas Hill Country.  The counties, in alphabetical order, are Bandera, Bexar (actually a Hill Country neighbor), Blanco, Burnet, Comal, Edwards, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Lampasas, Llano, Mason, McCullouch, Medina, Menard, Real, San Saba, Travis, Uvalde, and Williamson.  Together, the counties and their communities occupy around 22,722 square miles of Texas landscape, have a give or take population of approximately 3.5 million, and generate a whopping $50 billion plus in annual retail sales.  That's a lot of landscape, a lot of folks, and a lot of money, with population and annual sales growth continuing exponentially.  Add to the local population the growing number of travelers who visit the Hill Country, and you have a huge reservoir of potential business at hand.  Take advantage of an opportunity to participate in this phenomenal growth.  Meet and work with members like those featured below to promote tourism in the Texas Hill Country.  Join the Co-Op today.
